That Grapefruit in YouTube

A few days ago on digg, a youtube video hit front page. Great! Another cover of Michael Jackson "Beat It", I was hesitant to check but anyway I did.

It wasn't a lame cover afterall and I was instantly intrigued by this duo other videos. They made many covers of my favorite songs, such as Edith Piaf classic "La Vie en Rose", Sound of Music "Favorite Things", and "Mrs. Robinson" by SimonGarfunkel.

There's something about the female singer voice that really tingles me. I love her flat but finely composed voice. And boy, how fun the videos are! They clearly show how they produce the sounds and music for these songs. For example, in their YouTube hit Beyonce's "Single Ladies", they clapped and made one sound from closing Polaroid camera, and from now and then they use this tiny piano and small metal xylophone. Hillarious!

They don't stop only by doing covers. Some of their own originals are really worthed to check! My favorite one is "Beat The Horse", though "Little Things" is so funny and sweet.

"Whoa, like what?"
"Like diamonds..."
"Diamonds aren't little things!"
"Little diamonds are little things...."

Their music might be not for everyone, but Nataly Dawn and Jack Conte just got a new fan! It's not often for me to fall in love with a music group so fast like this.

Check out or subscribe to the couple's YouTube channel here, there's also a link to download some of their songs for free.

Pamplemousse is a French word for Grapefruit.
